ANTICIPATED OPENING 


JOB TITLE: HEAD BUILDING CUSTODIAN
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
GROUP: ACT 93 - GROUP H
REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, BUSINESS MANAGER, PRINCIPAL


JOB SUMMARY
Provide a safe and clean environment conducive to learning for all students, staff and visitors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain and monitor the security of the building(s) during the school day.
  2. Perform daily custodial duties as necessary.
  3. Responsible for the opening and closing of assigned building(s) each day.
  4. Complete work orders as assigned and report any deviation from them to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  5. Supervise the performance of all custodians, ensuring duties and responsibilities are being met.
  6. Prepare a schedule for custodians that encompasses school and community needs.
  7. Prepare and organize a summer schedule to ensure the building is ready for opening day.
  8. Receive, process and maintain an inventory of all building supplies.
  9. Prepare the building for daytime activities/events.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
  11. Coordinate monthly fire drills; participate in the administration of the Crisis Management and Security Plan.
  12. Assist with snow and ice removal.
  13. Assist with the selection process and assignment of custodial staff.
  14. Provide needed training to custodial staff.
  15. Administer personnel policies; evaluate custodial staff with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  16. Serve as a positive role model for students in all aspects of performance, demonstrating pride in the honorable profession of public education.

 

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Make inquiries and/or purchases as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Business Manager or Principal
  2. Maintain communication with administrators regarding any major issues that need to be addressed.
  3. Explore and recommend the implementation of procedures to enhance the efficiency of building operations.
  4. Assist with swimming pool testing procedures.
  5. Participate in meetings, workshops and conferences as required.
  6. Support public education and student achievement.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Business Manager and building Principal.
