ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - JR. SR. HIGH SCHOOL

REPORTS TO

Jr. Sr. High School Principal

JOB SUMMARY

Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the district in various areas such as curriculum and instruction, student services, communications and management, under the direction of the principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in the development and establishment of district goals and objectives and the planning of the district instructional program.
  2. Assist with the administrative and instructional functions to meet the educational needs of students, while carrying out the mission and goals of the district.
  3. Advise and assist the Principal on the administration, supervision/evaluation of building matters, student discipline/behavior, attendance and other staff/student related matters.
  4. Maintain compliance with school law and district policy.
  5. Initiate and conduct teacher, student and parent meetings as appropriate.
  6. Assist in developing and implementing programs for staff development.
  7. Co-coordinate the new teacher induction program in conjunction with the Jr/Sr High School Assistant Principal as per the Strategic Plan.
  8. Assist in the evaluation of faculty and staff, school programs and building activities.
  9. Promote and maintain open communication, positive attitudes, respect and self worth between students, faculty and staff, parents and community.
  10. Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports required or appropriate to the school’s administration; maintain records.
  11. Assist in supervising extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and events.
  12. Assume the responsibilities of the Principal in his/her absence.
  13. Advise National Honor Society Program.
  14. Assist with developing and implementing remedial credit recovery programs.
  15. Serve as a positive role model for students in all aspects of performance, demonstrating pride in the honorable profession of public education.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attend school-sponsored functions.
  2. Establish and maintain favorable relationships with parents and community groups.
  3. Participate in meetings, workshops and conferences as required.
  4. Support public education and student achievement.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Jr/Sr High School Principal, Superintendent and Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Proper Pennsylvania administrative certification necessary
  • Knowledge of K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment, school organization and management, school district policy and PA school law.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
  • Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006
